Job description

This state or regional Associate Product Manager will assist the Product Manager in the management of the company’s product features, pricing and competitive position for Plymouth Rock’s personal lines products sold in the assigned market(s) for the Direct division. This person is responsible for assisting in creating and developing favorable business outcomes through the analysis of complex issues, and for providing recommendations for the implementation of new rating plans, underwriting rules, process improvements, and other initiatives.


This role serves as a liaison between the Product department and all of the other departments that interface with the group and is a key partner with Plymouth Rock’s Direct Marketing and Partners divisions.


This role is posted as Associate Product Manager, but we will consider candidates for a Product Manager title depending on relevant experience and demonstrated skill level.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shares accountability for the P&L of personal lines products sold in the Direct division (state and market assignment based on applicant’s experience). Shares responsibility with the Product Manager for driving the business to achieve budgeted growth and profitability business results.
  • Effectively manage projects of high complexity using available tools and data systems to identify, test and solve strategic business issues within the company data/reports, troubleshoot when there are inconsistencies and present findings to upper management.
  • Understand predictive modeling and other quantitative concepts and serve as a resource to other Product Analysts in interpreting these concepts for business application.
  • Seek out new ideas and approaches to business issues and develop hypotheses independently.
  • Constructively challenge current processes and proposed solutions to obtain the best outcome.
  • Interface with other departments to strategically address their needs as they relate to the product.
  • Review documentation, interpret rules, and coordinate activities with marketing, customer service, underwriting, finance, and information technology.
  • Serve as a regulatory expert, providing a thorough understanding of our rules and endorsements.
  • Monitor the competitive, legislative, and regulatory environments in assigned states to identify emerging threats to our objectives and recommend plans for responding.
  • Directly manage and develop product analysts.
  • Serve as a mentor to other team members on aspects of project work, insurance and general business knowledge.
  • Serve as a Product representative in meetings with other departments as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • 5 or more years in product management, actuarial, or other analytical role.
  • 5 or more years of experience with relational database tools and concepts.
  • Ability to utilize quantitative approaches to generate sound business analyses with detail orientation. Identify results out of the norm, draw conclusions and articulate findings.
  • Confidence in taking ownership of challenging business issues, making decisions with limited or incomplete data and seeing issues through to resolution.
  • Experience developing and implementing new, creative and effective solutions to highly complex business issues.
  • Understanding of and experience within the insurance industry is required.
  • Skilled in linking multiple data sources into a logical format for analysis.
  • Experience managing relationships with upper management and with technical developers.
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • MS-SQL (or related software) skill preferred.


SALARY RANGE

The pay range for this position is $110,000 to $146,000 annually. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
