Position Summary... What you'll do...Role summary:
Manager, Procurement Packaging Engineer to serve as the technical packaging lead within the procurement organization. In this role, you will translate sourcing and business needs into packaging requirements that improve cost, quality, speed, risk management, and sustainability outcomes. You will partner with procurement managers, suppliers, quality, operations, and cross-functional teams to develop specifications, evaluate packaging options, support sourcing events, validate changes, and enable successful implementation at scale.

The Global Procurement Packaging team helps drive value through supplier-enabled innovation, clear technical requirements, standardizations, disciplined execution, and packaging solutions that support Walmart’s scale and supply chain complexity.
What you'll do:
  • Define packaging, quality, testing, and sustainability requirements for sourcing events, supplier evaluations, and implementation plans.
  • Lead packaging cost optimization and value engineering initiatives.
  • Develop fit-for-purpose packaging solutions that balance performance, manufacturability, compliance, sustainability, and cost.
  • Create, review, and maintain packaging specifications, standards, and test requirements.
  • Oversee packaging testing, trials, and validation to confirm performance and implementation readiness.
  • Partner with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve issues, improve execution, and support successful commercialization.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen packaging capability through standardization, documentation, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in packaging engineering within procurement, sourcing, commercialization, manufacturing, or supplier-facing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, specifications, testing, structural design, and performance requirements.
  • Experience supporting supplier evaluations, sourcing events, packaging changes, or cost optimization initiatives.
  • Effective communication skills to influence stakeholders and present complex information clearly.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
