Job description

About the role

At B&A Precision—a CNC job shop with more than 50 years serving Aerospace, Defense, and Medical customers—you’ll shape how precision components are made. As our CNC Manufacturing Process Engineer, you’ll report directly to the Shop President and turn customer specifications into reliable, efficient methods that hit every tolerance, every time.

A day in the life

You start by reviewing blueprints and planning the manufacturing route for a new aerospace order. You create inspection sheets for the floor, choose the right tools and holders, and program a 5-axis mill for a first-article run. Midday, you’re on the floor troubleshooting a lathe setup and fine-tuning feeds and speeds on stainless steel. Later, you assist with shop scheduling, verify coating and heat treatment plans, and close the day by preparing estimates for an incoming medical device RFQ.

What you’ll do
  • Own process planning for both new and repeat customer work.
  • Apply working knowledge of NDT, heat treatment, and coating processes specific to aerospace, defense, and medical components.
  • Create and edit clear, practical inspection sheets for shop use.
  • Generate CNC programs for lathes and mills, including:
    • 2- and 3-axis lathes
    • Lathes equipped with bar feeders
    • 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centers
  • Select and order cutting tools and holders required for production.
  • Determine, specify, and place orders for tooling such as lathe jaws and milling fixtures.
  • Apply proven machining experience with stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Oversee New Product Introduction (NPI) first-article lots to successful release.
  • Assist with shop scheduling to keep work moving on time.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes on the floor as issues arise.
  • Leverage CAD/CAM and DNC systems to streamline programming and communication.
  • Support new business by helping generate accurate estimates.
  • Incorporate basic Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve flow.
What you bring
  • Fluency in blueprint reading, solid machining fundamentals, and strong CNC programming capability.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software and shop-floor DNC workflows.
  • Understanding of coating and heat-treatment sequences and their impact on final features.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent, relevant experience considered.
Work schedule & compensation
  • Full-time, 1st shift
  • Extremely competitive salary
Benefits

Comprehensive package including medical benefits, company-matching 401(k), paid vacation, paid holidays, and paid sick days.

Why B&A Precision

Join a team dedicated to precision and on-time delivery. Use your blueprint reading, machining knowledge, and programming skills to produce quality parts on schedule while supporting efficient production workflows and our long-standing commitment to manufacturing excellence.
