Job Description
Title: Speech Language Pathologist
Schedule: 8 hours
Assignment Details:
- Contract Length: 14 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 40
Requirements:
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or be CCC eligible and hold a current state license as applicable.
- Proof of current CPR certification.
- Current driver's license.
- Reliable transportation and insurance.
- 1 year clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Experience in a home care environment (preferred).
- Graduate of a master's level program in speech-language pathology accredited by the Educational Standards Board or whose coursework and practice meet ASHA certification requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations, assess home environment, and identify equipment needs related to speech/language function.
- Identify functional speech defects and establish a Plan of Care (POC) to improve patient function.
- Administer speech therapy programs utilizing specialized therapeutic techniques and equipment.
- Recommend communication devices and aids as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians and other staff to ensure comprehensive care contributes to the total Plan of Care (POC).
- Document patient care progress and continuing need for treatment.
- Educate patients and families/caregivers on tasks and resources that will assist with functional independence.
- Identify needs for other services and make referrals as appropriate.
- Supervise home health aides in procedures related to the speech-language therapy Plan of Care (POC).
- Participate in case conferences and other meetings to ensure coordinated care.
