Appointments are available on either the tenure track or clinical scholar track, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is undergoing transformative growth, with a fully implemented subspecialty practice model supporting a high-volume and diverse case mix. The department performs over 7 million laboratory tests annually and accessions over 65,000 surgical pathology cases, providing exceptional opportunities for clinicopathologic correlation and translational research. The University of Kansas Cancer Center is the region’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center—offers a rich, collaborative research ecosystem, including: • A certified CAR-T cell therapy program • A Precision Medicine Center (COBRE-supported) • Strong infrastructure for basic, translational, clinical, and population-based cancer research These resources create a highly supportive environment for impactful discovery and rapid clinical translation. Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University. The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship.
