Job description

Overview
Apogee is seeking a strategic and results-driven Associate HR Business Partner to align business objectives with employees and management. The Associate HR Business Partner provides primary support for employee benefits administration and employee support, ensuring a high-quality experience for employees and managers across benefits enrollment, eligibility, life events, leave coordination, and benefits education. This role also provides general HR guidance (employee relations, policy interpretation, and HR program support) as needed.
This is a temporary position currently expected to run through September [2026]. Depending on business needs and individual performance, this role may be extended and/or converted to a regular full-time position, but continued employment beyond September is not guaranteed.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions (medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, life/disability, retirement plans), guiding employees to timely resolution.
  • Administer benefits processes including new hire enrollment, qualifying life events, open enrollment support, eligibility audits, and vendor coordination.
  • Partner with Payroll/HRIS to ensure accurate benefit deductions, resolve discrepancies, and process benefit-related transactions and data updates.
  • Support leave and time away processes (FMLA/State leaves, ADA accommodations coordination as applicable) by facilitating documentation flow and ensuring employees understand benefits impacts.
  • Develop and deliver benefits communications and education (FAQs, guides, onboarding materials, open enrollment sessions) to improve understanding and participation.
  • Track and analyze benefits trends and recurring issues; recommend process improvements to increase accuracy, compliance, and employee satisfaction.
  • Provide general HR support as needed (policy interpretation, basic employee relations intake, performance process administration), escalating complex matters appropriately.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
Years of Experience: 2 years of HR experience (HR Business Partner experience preferred) or 6 years of HR experience with a High School Diploma
Additional Experience:
  • Hands-on experience partnering with HRIS/Payroll and benefits vendors to ensure accurate eligibility and deductions, troubleshoot discrepancies, and support basic reporting/audits (e.g., eligibility files, billing reconciliation).
  • Experience supporting leave administration and benefits impacts (e.g., FMLA/state leave coordination, benefits continuation during leave, and employee communication), escalating complex cases as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications: HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR).
Additional Experience:
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations.
  • Experience with open enrollment planning and execution, including employee communications, training sessions, and post-enrollment audits/reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with benefits compliance and reporting (e.g., ACA, ERISA/SPD distribution support, COBRA administration coordination) and working with brokers/TPAs.
