Job description

Title: Supervisor Physical Security Operations Center

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work
POSITION CONCEPT:
The Supvr Physical Security Operations Center is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Physical Security Operations Center (PSOC), ensures effective monitoring of access control systems, CCTV surveillance, dispatch coordination, and emergency communications across critical energy infrastructure sites. Supervises Physical Security Operators, maintaining operational readiness, and ensures compliance with security protocols and regulatory standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and Leadership
Oversee a team of operators across multiple shifts, ensuring consistent coverage and performance. Conduct shift briefings, assign duties, and manage scheduling to maintain 24/7 operational readiness. Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective actions, as needed. Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Operational Oversight
Ensure proper functioning of all security systems including CCTV, access control, alarm monitoring, and communication platforms. Monitor operator activities to ensure timely and accurate response to incidents, alarms, and service calls. Review and approve incident reports, dispatch logs, and system alerts.
Compliance and Documentation
Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Maintain accurate records of operator certifications, training, and shift activities. Support audits and inspections by providing documentation and operational insights.
Training and Development
Develop and deliver training programs for operators on system use, emergency protocols, and communication standards. Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in security communications. Promote cross-training to enhance team flexibility and resilience.
Emergency Response Coordination
Serve as the escalation point for emergency situations and critical incidents. Coordinate with internal security teams, emergency responders, and external agencies. Ensure operators follow established emergency protocols and communication procedures.
System Management and Troubleshooting
Consult with Physical Security Unit team members, Information Technologies teams and system vendors to address technical issues and ensure system integrity. Conduct routine audits and tests of security systems to verify operational status. Recommend upgrades or enhancements to improve system performance and security coverage.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required: Able to possess within 3 months of employment a Basic instructor-led 40-hour telecommunicator course, CPR/First Aid/AED certification, and a TWIC clearance.
Preferred: Possess at time of employment a formal, basic instructor-led 40-hour telecommunicator course (or have a working knowledge of: APCO ANS 3.103.2.2015 and APCO ANS 3.104.2-2017).
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:
Required: 2 years team leadership, providing direction and guidance to others.
EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, communications, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 5 years of experience in law enforcement, security, military, public safety communications, or communications within the physical security industry.
Preferred: Experience in public safety, private security communications in the critical infrastructure protection and energy sector security. Knowledge of NERC physical security standards.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Strong situational awareness and diligence. Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. Excellent communication and people skills. Familiarity with security technology (CCTV, access control systems, radios).
Preferred: Knowledge of NERC physical security standards
