Job Description:

We're looking for a highly motivated Platform Engineer to help us build and improve our cloud infrastructure in AWS. Initially this role will focus highly on DevOps related tasks. As the team matures, the role will grow to encompass broader platform engineering responsibilities, like IDPs and self-service features for developers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical alignment by conducting architecture and deployment readiness reviews to ensure requirements, dependencies, security, and compliance are understood before implementation.
  • Design scalable, secure, and supportable platform solutions with defined success criteria, failure handling, rollback strategies, and operational ownership.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between application development, infrastructure, IT, business, and vendor teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and security risks early, troubleshoot complex issues, support incident management, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Modernize on-premises applications in AWS and automate application deployments using CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and AWS services.
  • Deploy, configure, monitor, and maintain AWS infrastructure and containerized applications using AWS ECS Fargate.
  • Establish and promote Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and security best practices through code reviews, standards, and governance.
  • Support compliance initiatives, including audit logging, vulnerability scanning, patch management, and monitoring using CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar tools.
  • Develop and maintain platform, infrastructure, and system documentation.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of work experience as a DevOps engineer or in similar roles required
  • Bachelor s degree preferred
  • Active AWS DevOps Engineer Associate or AWS DevOps Solutions Architect Associate Certification required
  • AWS EC2, ECS, ECR, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch
  • Docker or similar
  • Terraform or similar
  • GitHub and GitHub Actions or similar
  • Programming (preferably Python)
  • Willing to work outside of standard business hours and weekends (when required)
  • Prior experience in a CRO, pharmaceutical, or clinical data environment preferred
