Position Summary
We are looking for a CEI Inspector to join our team! In this role, you will support and coordinate inspection activities on complex transportation construction projects, ensuring contractor compliance with plans, specifications, standards, and contract requirements while supporting project documentation, safety, and quality assurance efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform daily construction inspection activities on complex, large-scale, and/or diverse transportation projects to ensure contractor operations comply with project plans, specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Conduct field inspections of contractor operations, materials, workmanship, and installed quantities to verify compliance with contract documents, approved plans, and applicable standards.
  • Perform erosion control inspections to verify compliance with approved Erosion, Sedimentation, and Pollution Control (ES amp;PC) plans, permit requirements, and applicable environmental regulations, while documenting and reporting deficiencies or corrective actions.
  • Monitor and inspect Traffic Control operations and devices to ensure compliance with project requirements, maintenance of traffic standards, and overall job site safety.
  • Maintain detailed daily project documentation, including inspection reports, daily diaries, quantity tracking, work progress, and significant project events.
  • Review completed work quantities and assist in verifying contractor pay estimates for accuracy and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate effectively with contractors, client representatives, project managers, and field personnel to identify, communicate, and help resolve construction and inspection-related issues.
  • Support and promote safe work practices by participating in project safety efforts and maintaining awareness of general construction and job site safety requirements.
  • Be available to work daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts as required to support project schedules and operations.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of timesheets, expense reports, inspection records, and other required administrative documentation.
  • Support company business development and marketing initiatives through timely resume updates and participation in proposal or marketing efforts as needed.
  • Demonstrate initiative in personal and professional development by pursuing certifications, seeking feedback, developing technical skills, and contributing to overall team growth and project success.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification
  • GDOT WECS Certification
  • GSWCC Level 1A Certification (Erosion Control)
  • 5+ years of related experience on heavy construction or transportation projects
  • High School Diploma and Associate Degree in a technical discipline, construction-related field, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Passing scores on GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training – Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, and Basic Highway Plan Reading)
  • Passing scores on GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training – Group 2 (Pavements, Bases and Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, and Construction Erosion Control)
  • Passing scores on GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training – Group 3 (Earthwork, Bridges, and Incidental Items)
  • Additional GDOT certifications preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited university may be substituted for experience
