A Brief Overview
The nuclear medicine technologist must be able to independently perform multiple nuclear medicine procedures of a highly technical nature. This includes quality control, handling radioactive materials, and performing nuclear procedures. The mobile technologist will comply with all commercial driver's license (CDL) regulations and requirements as well as overseeing truck maintenance in collaboration with the Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

  • Associate's Degree Preferred


Skills and Abilities

  • Understands the theories and principles behind the equipment and tests performed in the Nuclear Medicine/Nuclear Cardiology department. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, ability to access patient status: ie- mental status, physical condition, etc. (Required proficiency)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Nuclear Medicine Technology - ARRT CNMT is also accepted. Required
  • Drivers License - DMV Current Valid Driver's License and Clean MVR with 3-year baseline and annual MVR review Required
  • May require obtaining a Class B license depending on need.
  • Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire. Required
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist - NMTCB ARRT is also accepted. Required


What you will do

  • Understands the theories and principles behind the equipment and tests performed in the Nuclear Medicine/Nuclear Cardiology department. Performs a variety of diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures utilizing radioactive materials.
  • Performs IV puncture, utilizing proper injection techniques while injecting radiopharmaceuticals. Prepare and administer I-131 thyroid therapies.
  • Performs a variety of diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures utilizing radioactive materials.
  • Produces quality studies to meet the needs of physicians and customers. May provide preliminary findings to physicians and other healthcare professionals as deemed necessary.
  • Quality control instruments and review calibration data to detect trends indicating malfunction.
  • Able to operate Class B commercial vehicles. Able to travel on the road to different outreach locations and perform nuclear procedures.
  • Complies with technical standards and protocols as described in the Policy and Procedure Manual. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environment and infection control standards.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques (ALARA) to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Perform area survey on assigned working areas.
  • All necessary documentation is clear and comprehensive.
  • Processes and routes patient charts. Responds to code blue situations.
  • Provide instruction and technical guidance while training new employees.
  • Contributes to a "team" atmosphere by demonstrating excellent communication skills and positive interactions.
  • Makes recommendations to the Lead Nuclear Technologist / Department Manager for capital and operating budget needs.
  • Problem solves on the road with any issues that arise (camera, vehicle, technical, etc.).
  • Orders, receives, and returns radioactive materials from radiopharmacy. Orders and stocks supplies, cleans rooms and equipment to maintain work environment.

  • Driving mobile clinic to locations to perform duties when assigned
