Position Overview

We are seeking an Engineer with deep, hands-on expertise in the Mitsubishi Electric automation platform to join our Beaverton, Oregon team. This role is focused on the design, programming, integration, and troubleshooting of Mitsubishi-based control systems — PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servo motion — supporting industrial automation projects from concept through commissioning.

This can by a Hybrid position, based initially out of our Beaverton, Oregon office; candidates must currently reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the greater Portland, Oregon Metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities

● Design, develop, and program PLC logic using Mitsubishi Electric platforms (GX Works2/GX Works3, iQ-R/iQ-F series) for industrial automation and machine control applications.

● Develop and configure Mitsubishi HMI interfaces (GOT series) for operator control, diagnostics, and process visualization.

● Configure, tune, and troubleshoot Mitsubishi VFDs (FR series) for motor control applications across various industrial processes.

● Design and implement Mitsubishi servo motion control systems (MELSERVO, MR series) for precision positioning, synchronized motion, and high-speed automation applications.

● Integrate Mitsubishi controls with upstream/downstream equipment, sensors, and third-party devices via industrial networking protocols (CC-Link, CC-Link IE, EtherNet/IP, Modbus).

● Read electrical schematics, I/O lists, and control system documentation to support design, build, and commissioning.

● Conduct on-site installation support, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting for new and existing automation systems.

● Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients to translate application requirements into functional, reliable control solutions.

● Diagnose and resolve control system faults in a timely manner to minimize equipment downtime for internal and client-facing projects.

● Support development and maintenance of standardized programming templates and best practices for Mitsubishi-based control platforms.

Required Qualifications

● Minimum 3 years of hands-on professional experience working specifically with Mitsubishi Electric automation products and solutions.

● Demonstrated experience programming Mitsubishi PLCs (GX Works2/GX Works3, iQ-R/iQ-F, Q/L series or equivalent).

● Experience developing and configuring Mitsubishi HMIs (GOT series).

● Experience configuring and troubleshooting Mitsubishi VFDs (FR series or equivalent).

● Experience with Mitsubishi servo motion control systems (MELSERVO/MR series or equivalent) — including tuning, setup, and motion programming.

● Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control system documentation.

● Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and controls systems in an industrial environment.

● Must live in, or be willing to relocate to, the Beaverton, Oregon area.

Preferred Qualifications

● Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation/Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field (OR equivalent hands-on experience will be considered in lieu of a degree).

● Experience with Mitsubishi CC-Link/CC-Link IE networking and integration with third-party industrial equipment.

● Experience with robotics integration (Mitsubishi MELFA or similar) is a plus.

● Familiarity with UL508A panel standards and NEC/NFPA electrical codes.

● Prior experience in a machine builder, systems integrator, or OEM environment.

● Mitsubishi Electric training/certifications a plus.

What We Offer

● The opportunity to work deeply within a single, best-in-class automation platform rather than spreading thin across multiple brands.

● Hands-on involvement across the full project lifecycle — design, programming, integration, startup, and commissioning.

● A collaborative, on-site team environment based in Beaverton, Oregon.

● Competitive compensation commensurate with experience, along with a standard benefits package.
