Junior Network Engineer (Travel) - Temporary
Location: Huntsville, AL
Clearance Requirement: Active Top Secret (Required) Overview:
We are seeking a Junior Network Engineer (Travel) to join our team supporting a Federal Information Technology Infrastructure Division. We are a fast-growing high-tech environment that understands both the pace of technology today and the need to have a comprehensive well-planned information management environment. We nimbly utilize the best that information technology offers to meet the business needs of our Federal Government customers. Responsibilities: • Assist the Intermediate Network Engineer and on-site government personnel in responding to and managing any tickets, alerts, or communications that come into the Network Operations Center. • Install, maintain, and evaluate network systems and communications systems. • Perform hands-on technical refresh of routers, switches, and firewall devices at customer sites. • Deploy device configurations and verify operability. • Follow up with other government and contractor personnel on outstanding ticket updates. • Observe the actions of other contractor personnel to capture and assist with ticket updates or notes for after-action reviews. • Provide support to other contractor personnel towards the accomplishment of their responsibilities and duties. • Contribute to reporting and data analysis of the work done by the NOC. Required Qualifications: • Active Top-Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizen) • 1-3 years of relevant IT experience with specialization in networking technologies. • Must have minimum 1 year of hardware experience, specifically with Cisco switches and routers and resolving LAN/WAN issues. • Basic knowledge of IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, Stateful firewalls and encryption technologies. • Working knowledge of network management tools, such as Riverbed, Wireshark, Micro Focus Network Automation, etc. • Working knowledge of web applications, web servers, application load balancers and storage systems. Must have good knowledge of general security tools and methodologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS and access control lists. • Capable of making travel arrangements (Air, Hotel, Rental Car, etc.) Desired Qualifications: • Associates of Science degree (preferred) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related area. • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Enterprise Core and Infrastructure certification. Work Environment and Physical Demands: • Location: Huntsville, AL • Temporary Work Assignment: April 2026 through August 2026 (estimated). Dates are subject to change. • Type of environment: Office/Travel 50% • Work schedule: Schedule is Day shift Monday – Friday while onsite in Huntsville and TBD while on travel to work around customer needs and mission requirements. May be requested to work evenings and weekends to meet program and contract needs. • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, feel, touch; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25 pounds; and up to 50 pounds.
