Job description

Tier II Network Technician * El Segundo, CA Our Partner has an opening for a Tier II Network Technician to support the customerโ€™s computer data communications systems, in providing design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; plan and implementing upgrades; as well as, analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling. The Tier II Network Field Technician will support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices. Responsibilities * Respond to and resolve incidents, demonstrate troubleshooting skills and communicate with the team * Complete assigned tasks within Service Level Objectives/Agreements (SLOs/SLAs) * Draft and implement standard network change requests * Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, TEMS, coordinate and install new equipment) * Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory * Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades (Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process) * Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLANโ€™s, Port Security, Thin Configs) * Perform IOS upgrades for Cisco, Juniper, Brocade and Foundry OS * May have up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities based on site and team needs Requirements * TS/SCI CI Poly Clearance * 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, masterโ€™s and 4 years, bachelorโ€™s and 6 years, associates and 8 years or HS diploma and 10 years.  * Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 * Available to travel up to 20% of the time. * Available to work flexible hours, to include weekend support * Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment * Layer 1 network experience (CAT5/6, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP) * Layer 2 network experience (ability to configure/troubleshoot switches/routers, MAC addresses, VLANs, port security, applying thin and thick configs * Layer 3 network experience (subnetting, familiar with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE) * Experience with Visio * Familiar with ServiceNow and Confluence About Us For more than 20 years, NewGen Technologies has solved our clientsโ€™ toughest IT challenges with integrity, security, and outstanding service by delivering both technology and talent.
