Process Engineer

What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will apply engineering expertise to optimize complex systems and processes, mentor peers, and drive operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate deep understanding of complex systems, equipment, and processes to support manufacturing excellence.
  • Independently perform technical tasks with precision, ensuring high-quality outcomes and minimal errors.
  • Mentor Associate Engineers and Technicians, sharing best practices and technical insights.
  • Serve as a subject expert on cGMPs and SOPs, guiding others in compliance and documentation.
  • Collaborate multi-functionally to align priorities, define milestones, and coordinate execution.
  • Manage small-scale projects or workstreams, ensuring timely delivery and customer alignment.
  • Lead basic investigations and implement effective solutions to technical challenges.
  • Analyze performance data, identify trends, and apply root cause analysis to drive improvements.
  • Build relationships across functions and share knowledge to support team and network success.
  • Model a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning in alignment with Amgen values.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree in engineering.

Or

Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2 years of engineering support experience.

Or

Associate's degree in engineering and 6 years of engineering support experience,

Or

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of engineering support experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educational background in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Manufacturing supports experience in a regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or GMP environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment, process systems, and operational issues in upstream and/or downstream manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of GMP production, deviation management, change control, CAPA, equipment qualification, process validation, and new product introduction activities.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles, data analysis, and problem-solving skills to support process optimization, equipment modifications, and operational improvements.
  • Strong collaboration skills with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Validation, Process Development, Utilities, and Facilities organizations.
  • Strong organizational, technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Willingness to support non-standard shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by manufacturing operations.
