Our Team, Your Impact
The Associate Director, MSL is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and development for the MSL team in order to achieve Medical goals. The Associate Director is also responsible for overseeing the MSL Team in cultivating current and future External Experts in academic and clinical medicine at the local, regional, and national levels.
The Associate Director directs and influences the efforts of direct/indirect reports in functional areas impacting the MSL Team, such as Medical Affairs, R&D and Commercial, as appropriate. The Associate Director is responsible for the execution of all efforts, initiatives and activities for the MSL Team that contribute to the execution of the Medical Strategy.
The Associate Director of MSLs reports to the Sr Director of Field Medical within US Medical Affairs.
How You'll Spend Your Day
• Responsible for developing and coaching the field MSL team, assisting in the development and oversight of field activities, ensuring attainment of stated goals, and providing continuous reports and activity updates to management and business partners
• Leads MSL team in the integration of strategies and goals across supported therapeutic area
• Participates in national strategic Field Medical planning; assists in the tactical development and implementation of regional and local initiatives in concert with corporate and regional business
• Oversees advocate development at both national and regional levels, as executed by the MSL team
• Conducts and documents regular field visits to provide coaching/mentoring on MSL behaviors as well as on
• technical, process and compliance competencies
• Optimizes communication and interactions with key customers by working with key strategic managers within Medical Affairs.
• Serves, as appropriate, on medical and commercial cross-functional teams
• Ensures field compliance of all relevant corporate policies and regulatory guidelines
Your Skills and Experience
Required Qualifications
• Advanced clinical or scientific degree such as PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, DNP, or a relevant master's degree with substantial applicable experience.
• 7+ years in pharmaceutical industry (sales, marketing, professional education or clinical research), or equivalent experience in healthcare management and a working knowledge of related fields
• Three or more years of Field Medical/MSL or comparable external scientific-engagement experience.
• Demonstrated excellence in current role; emphasis on product knowledge, flexibility, proven ability to develop and coach others
• Strong understanding of Medical Affairs, scientific exchange, clinical evidence, compliance, and the pharmaceutical/biotechnology environment.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific data.
• Strong leadership, coaching, communication, matrix-influence, and execution skills.
• Ability to travel up to approximately 50-60%, including overnight and occasional weekend travel.
Preferred Qualifications
• Management experience is highly preferred.
• Educational background and/or clinical experience in Neurology or neuroscience therapeutic area.
• Pre-launch, launch, congress, evidence-generation, or lifecycle-management experience.
• Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing field teams.
• Experience using medical insights to influence strategy or evidence priorities.

Salary Range
The annual starting salary for this position is between $182,200 - $227,500 annually. Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
