The (USA) Associate Merchant supports category management by facilitating supplier negotiations, managing purchase orders, and resolving supplier-related issues to ensure accurate product setup across stores and online channels. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to execute customer communication programs, optimize product assortments, and support promotional activities. Utilizing data analysis and business insights, the Associate Merchant contributes to budgeting, forecasting, and category performance tracking. The position requires strong vendor relationship management and project coordination skills to drive operational excellence and deliver value aligned with organizational goals.

The Associate Merchant team plays a key role in delivering the right products and value by supporting category strategy, assortment planning, and supplier relationships. This team collaborates across departments to analyze business performance and customer needs, ensuring relevant and accessible product assortments. Focused on enhancing the shopping experience, the team drives merchandising decisions that improve sales and customer satisfaction. Members leverage data analysis and market insights to support supplier management and execute effective category strategies, contributing to Walmart's commitment to providing affordable and convenient options for customers.
What you'll do:
  • Support supplier negotiations and manage purchase orders for assigned categories and subcategories.
  • Assist merchants with resolving supplier issues and setting up new suppliers for stores and online channels.
  • Execute customer communication and education programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Analyze sales data and track category performance to support budgeting and forecasting efforts.
  • Develop and implement feature proposals and modular assortment strategies across stores and online platforms.
  • Maintain product page content accuracy and manage item setup decisions for ordering and eCommerce.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal partners to drive business solutions.
