Job description

The Senior Merchandise Manager plays a key role in developing and executing category strategies that drive sales, profitability, and inventory productivity across all channels. This role partners closely with Procurement and cross-functional teams to identify customer needs, optimize assortments, and deliver innovative product solutions. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role manages categories of significant scope and complexity, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and financial targets.

What You'll Do

  • Lead category performance for assigned product areas, driving sales growth, margin improvement, inventory productivity, and overall financial performance across all sales channels.
  • Develop and execute customer-focused merchandising strategies that support both short-term business objectives and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Utilize data analysis, retail math, and market insights to optimize assortments, SKU productivity, and product lifecycle decisions.
  • Partner with Procurement and Sourcing teams to align assortment strategies, supplier partnerships, and category financial goals.
  • Identify assortment gaps, growth opportunities, and margin-enhancing initiatives through competitive analysis and customer insights.
  • Develop and maintain channel-specific SKU and class plans, including assortment breadth, depth, and fulfillment strategies.
  • Analyze product performance and inventory trends to support allocation decisions and improve category productivity.
  • Conduct ongoing market and competitive analysis to identify opportunities related to pricing, promotions, and product innovation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendor partners to support strategic initiatives, operational efficiencies, and category growth.
  • Present recommendations, reporting, and business insights to leadership and key stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in merchandising, category management, product management, or planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools, including Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools preferred.
  • An understanding of multi-level distribution networks is preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable working with confidential business and financial data.
