Job description

HGA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support operations in Baton Rouge, LA.
This Mechanical Engineer is responsible for developing and executing mechanical engineering designs, calculations, and specifications to support Oil & Gas, Refinery, and Chemical industry projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, design drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Provide detailed mechanical design of complex facilities and guide Designers/Drafters in 3D modeling and drawing development.
• Perform hydraulic calculations (pump sizing, line sizing), stress analysis, wall thickness calculations, and piping specifications.
• Generate equipment data sheets, procurement packages, bid evaluations, and vendor drawing reviews.
• Support construction and procurement through material take-offs, as-built drawing reviews, and technical input.
• Conduct field surveys to optimize equipment layout, safety, and operational performance.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
• Minimum of five years' experience in design engineering and equipment specifications.
• Strong knowledge of engineering practices, design standards, piping codes, and international specifications.
• Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, and piping design.
• Must reside within commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional Engineer (PE) license by examination preferred; willingness to pursue licensure required.
• Experience in a consulting engineering firm environment.
• Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical industry project experience.
