FIDELITY MANUFACTURING is part of the backup Power Generation Industry. We design and build

back up power packages (to include tanks and enclosures) for large and small health, industrial, and

technology-oriented businesses that cannot have a power lapse at any time.


Position Summary: Attention to detail is required. Design, draw and read complicated drawings.


Essential Functions

Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:

  • Create detailed 3D models of custom welded steel structures using SolidWorks, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and adherence to engineering standards (i.e. UL, critical dimensions, and weight limitations).
  • Develop complete fabrication 2D drawing packages, including assembly drawings, part drawings, weldment details, BOMs, and cut lists.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and production teams to interpret technical requirements, resolve design challenges, and ensure alignment with project scope.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of welded steel fabrication, including weld symbols, tolerances, material behavior, and best-practice manufacturing methods.
  • Review and update existing models and drawings to improve clarity, reduce production issues, and incorporate engineering changes.
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups and fit-up evaluations to ensure proper assembly in real-world conditions.
  • Conduct design feasibility checks and flag manufacturability concerns early in the design cycle.
  • Support the creation of technical documents, including installation guides, production notes, and quality-related documentation.
  • Provide engineering support to other departments of Fidelity Manufacturing in a professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Drafting and Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), or equivalent job experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on work experience within manufacturing environment, ideally with design-to-order or custom fabrication projects.
  • Proven background producing 3D models and fabrication drawings for welded steel structures in SolidWorks. SolidWorks Professional certification is a plus. AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Hands-on familiarity with steel fabrication processes such as cutting, forming, welding, machining, assembly, and finishing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication intuition – the ability to visualize fit-up, distortion, and weld sequences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, design-to-order production environment.
  • Highly organized and efficient, with a process improvement mindset.
  • Comfortable mentoring junior drafters or supporting team development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for long periods of time; walk on non-forgiving surfaces such as concrete, wood, and metal (to include metal or fiberglass ramps placed on 30 degree angles); climb stairs, balance, climb, stoop, crouch, and crawl; walk on hilly and uneven ground; use hands to handle and feel; reach with hands; lift push, pull, and/or move more than 20 lbs. without a mechanical aid; and communicate with others Work environment is a manufacturing warehouse atmosphere with extreme temperature changes, loud noises and machinery with moving parts. The work environment could also involve some outside exposure.


Working Conditions

This position is primarily performed in a professional office environment using standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and filing systems. Work is generally conducted in a climate-controlled setting with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or other environmental hazards. Occasional movement throughout the facility or visits to production or warehouse areas may occur. When entering production areas, employees are required to follow all posted safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
