Job description

Overview

Responsible for the Design and Development of automotive alignment & ADAS products. Including Quality improvements (Rapid Continuous Improvements) to existing products. Capable of leading and organizing development in a team environment.


Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical design and development of new products or product enhancements for the automotive equipment industry. Must be able to work and lead in a team environment with engineers from other disciplines and nationalities.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate documentation for release to manufacturing and for internal product design records. Maintain an engineering notebook to document work activity in support of company’s patent goals.
  • Test and validate alignment products to ensure good product performance and a high standard of quality.
  • Work with broader engineering team to design complex systems that meet product management requirements
  • Work with manufacturing engineering on Rapid Continuous Improvement initiatives to reduce product cost and/or improve performance of designs.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s products and their applications


Qualifications

  • BSME or BSMET degree minimum with a master’s degree preferred. Preference with 7-10 years’ mechanical design experience.
  • Up-to-date knowledge in mechanical design. Including the design of plastic molded parts, metal castings, sheet metal, and assembly techniques.
  • Capable of performing engineering analysis to support designs, i.e. tolerance stack, FEA, flow analysis, DFx,, and FMEA
  • Good understanding of complementary technical disciplines in Electrical, SW, FW, and Algorithm engineering.
  • Able to manage development of technical details of self and others within the team as required.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess good time management and organizational skills.
  • Must possess good problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate initiative.
  • Must be proficient in the use of 3D modeling software. Preference is PTC/CREO. Minimum requirement is other similar 3D packages.
