Title: Equipment Installation Technician (Manufacturing)
Duration:12 Months
Location: Newton, NC

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8-5, Occasional overtime
Travel Requirements: Project locations will range multiple locations within a small locale, from Newton to Hickory, North Carolina.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40 hrs (overtime periodically expected). Due to the project timing, overtime and off-hours coverage may be necessary to successfully complete workload and keep in-line with project goals.
Only W2 candidates are eligible for this position. Third-party or C2C candidates will not be considered.
Description :
Position Summary
  • The Equipment Installation Technician supports engineering projects related to manufacturing capacity additions, line installations, equipment debug, and mechanical readiness for operations receivership.
  • This role supports manufacturing engineering projects during development and execution to ensure timely, error-free mechanical support for multi-line equipment installations.
  • The role also works closely with cross-functional internal and external teams, vendors, and suppliers on a daily basis to resolve technical issues and protect project scope, timing, cost, and overall installation goals by providing and applying mechanical expertise.
  • Applicants must have strong technical knowledge in mechanical engineering, troubleshooting, and design processes to proactively identify root causes, resolve technical issues, and implement robust, industrialized solutions that improve equipment and manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain safe work practices, inform others of hazardous conditions or personal practices as expressed on project team
  • Manage installation and debugging activities to meet milestone & timeline objectives for successful capacity additions
  • Design & implement mechanical solutions and process changes to improve capability of manufacturing equipment.
  • Solve mechanical and process issues through data analysis, experience, and collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Manage spare part identification and storeroom entry as recommended by suppliers or peer engineers; noting available spares within (2)-plant footprint
  • Develop and update engineering and operations documentation
  • Support training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery (e.g., pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.)
  • Align, test, and calibrate mechanical systems after installation
  • Diagnose complex mechanical failures and recommend effective solutions
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to support troubleshooting and repair activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety
  • Collaborate with other departments to implement process improvements

Required Qualifications
Education:
  • Associates degree in relevant field (mechanical, technical, engineering)
  • Years/ Area of Experience:
  • At least 5 years' experience in new equipment installations in a manufacturing environment; start-up experience a plus

Additional Certifications
  • Relevant mechanical or industrial certifications (e.g., millwright, or welding) are a plus
  • OSHA or other safety certifications may be required

Required Skills
  • Strong technical fundamentals and mechanical engineering skills
  • Expertise in mechanical systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, gear systems, and conveyor systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced project install manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with PC software, including Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in an industrial setting
