JFT is growing and looking for an experienced Machine Shop Foreman to join our team in Loveland, CO. The anticipated closing date for this posting is 8/31/2026 and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
FUNCTION: We are looking for someone who wants to build and develop a high-performance machining team capable of supporting complex, low-volume, high-precision manufacturing in the Northern Colorado region. This position will play a key role in improving processes, developing employees, and supporting continued company growth.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and direct daily tasks of machine shop personnel.
- Plan machine schedules, priorities, and resource allocation to meet project milestones.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to machinists.
- Review drawings, work orders, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements prior to production.
- Support CNC programming, setup, troubleshooting, and machining strategy.
- Operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual machines, waterjet equipment, forklifts, and other shop equipment as required.
- Ensure manufactured components meet drawing requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, quality, cost reduction, and workflow.
- Identify tooling, fixture, equipment, and process improvements.
- Work with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Project teams to resolve production issues.
- Ensure accurate labor tracking, job status updates, and schedule communication.
- Support quoting and estimating efforts through machining knowledge and historical performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe machine shop environment.
- Conduct employee coaching, development, and performance appraisals.
- Ensure preventative maintenance is performed on shop equipment.
- Ensure machine shop employees follow JFT policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Strength and Stamina: The job involves lifting and moving parts or materials, typically up to 50lbs. The ability to stand for long periods (8+ hours) is required.
Manual Dexterity: Precise hand movements are necessary for handling tools, making adjustments to machines and operating a computer.
Visual Acuity: Good eyesight, including close vision and depth perception, is important for detailed work.
Mobility: Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching is required, along with the ability to maneuver around machinery and equipment.
Coordination: The role requires good hand-eye coordination to operate equipment safely and effectively.
Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Machine and fabrication shop environment around equipment such as water jet tables, lathes, milling machines, press brakes and forklifts. Welding operations are often taking place nearby. This job requires adherence to strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- 5-10 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- CNC mill and CNC lathe setup and operation experience required.
- Experience with CNC programming software (Mastercam preferred).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, precision inspection, and machining tolerances.
- Experience machining stainless steel, aluminum, exotic metals, and engineered materials preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for machining processes, tooling, and equipment.
- Previous lead machinist, shop lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Teams, Word, Outlook, ERP/MRP systems).
