About 1787 Legal Group
1787 Legal Group is an Arizona-licensed Alternative Business Structure (ABS) law firm operating at the intersection of law and capital. We partner with investors and affiliated firms across the U.S. to deliver high-quality, efficient legal services through a scalable, technology-driven model. We are building a national platform through strategic partnerships and a roll-up structure that combines operational excellence with entrepreneurial energy.

Role Summary
We are seeking a Corporate Litigation Counsel who will serve as both a lead litigator and one of the key architects of our growing litigation team. This role combines hands‐on management of complex civil cases with day‐to‐day leadership responsibilities as we build out a disciplined, high‐performing litigation function inside a national platform.

What You Will Do

  • Lead complex civil matters - Manage civil litigation from pre‐suit investigation through resolution, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation.
  • Act as day‐to‐day team lead - Serve as a key point of contact and working lead for associates and staff; assigning work, reviewing drafts, and ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Help build the litigation team - Partner with firm leadership on hiring, onboarding, and training as we grow the litigation group; contribute to playbooks, processes, and best practices.
  • Own discovery and motion practice - Draft and supervise pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other court filings; manage document review and factual investigations.
  • Drive case strategy and evaluation - Conduct legal research, draft strategy memoranda, and participate in case evaluation discussions to assess risk, exposure, and potential value.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders - Interface with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and co‐counsel; ensure clear, timely communication and a professional client experience.
  • Maintain disciplined case management - Keep organized files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with court rules and firm procedures across your portfolio of matters.

What We Are Looking For

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Arizona bar membership in good standing (or the ability to obtain AZ admission promptly); additional U.S. admissions are a plus.
  • Solid civil litigation experience, with a preference for candidates who have handled matters through arbitration or trial.
  • Demonstrated experience with motion practice, discovery, and case preparation in areas such as commercial litigation, personal injury, or other civil practice areas.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex facts into clear legal strategies.
  • High attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and comfort taking the lead on matters and coordinating work across a team.

This is an ideal role for a mid‐senior litigator who enjoys being in the work while also helping shape the team and systems that support it.

Compensation & Ownership

  • Base salary: 200,000 per year
  • Quarterly bonus tied to individual and team performance
  • Equity ownership participation in the broader 1787 Legal Group platform, aligned with the growth of our national roll‐up strategy

We are looking for someone who is motivated not only by salary but also by the opportunity to earn ownership and help build something enduring.

How to Apply

Apply via ZipRecruiter with your resume and a brief cover letter describing your civil litigation experience and your interest in a leadership‐oriented counsel role at a growing platform. Candidates with Arizona bar admission will be prioritized.

1787 Legal Group is an equal opportunity employer.
