Position Summary
The Lead Snowflake Administrator reports to the Manager of Data Operations and is responsible for supporting and maintaining the health and performance of a Snowflake data platform. Provide technical leadership and operational support for our Snowflake environment. As a thought leader in Data Platforms, evaluate new technologies and features, design and implement them by partnering with architects and end users. Collaborate with other data teams to proactively identify cost anomalies and savings opportunities.
Job Responsibility
Environment management:
  • Lead Snowflake account creation, configuration, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor and optimize Snowflake performance, cost, and usage trends across environments.
  • Architect, implement, and support replication strategies to ensure enterprise-grade resiliency and business continuity.
  • Build and maintain secure data-sharing frameworks for inbound and outbound data exchanges.

Security and access:
  • Implement and manage robust security measures, including user access controls, roles, and permissions.

Performance optimization:
  • Monitor system performance, analyze query execution, and tune database configurations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Data loading and integration:
  • Develop and execute strategies for data loading, migration, and integration with other systems and tools.

Troubleshooting and support:
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues and provide support to data engineers, business analysts, and end-users.

Compliance and governance:
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements.

Automation:
  • Write scripts (e.g., Python, SQL) to automate repetitive tasks like data ingestion, backups, and monitoring.

Documentation:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the Snowflake architecture, processes, and procedures.

Dailly Activities:
  • Participate in on-call rotations, providing 24×7 operational support for the Snowflake based data platforms.

Accountability:
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce all corporate policies.

Education Required
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in any Computer, Engineering, or other technical field, or equivalent level of job experience.
Experience Required
Experience Required:
  • 5+ years of proven experience with Snowflake Platform Administration in an enterprise-level environment.
  • 2+ years of DevOps experience with a clear understanding of related tools, structure, and processes. Experience with Terraform/TerraGrunt/Atlantis, CloudFoundation (or similar IaC)
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake administration and optimization in AWS (preferred) or other cloud environments.
  • Expertise in Snowflake advanced concepts such as resource monitors, RBAC controls, and cost optimization. Snowflake utilization and Capacity Planning for general operations as well as peak periods.
  • Proficiency with Linux, Python, SQL, and ETL/Scheduler tools; and operating in regulated environments.
  • Programming experience required, preferably Python.
  • Solid understanding of Snowflake features: CortexAI, Streamlit, Cloning, Data Sharing, Secure views, caching, warehouse sizes, and scaling
  • Experience with Snowflake data loading and unloading processes.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake's security features and role-based access control.
  • Knowledge of integrating Snowflake with various data sources and BI tools.
  • Experience authoring CI/CD pipelines, automation elements related to infrastructure composition, deployment orchestration, and monitoring.
  • Familiarity and experience with Agile/SCRUM based development methodology.
  • Able to manage automated build & deployment processes along with Rollback mechanisms.

Knowledge Required
Excellent written and verbal communications skills; adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products.
Nice to Have:
  • Aide in developing and managing Kafka-based data pipelines.
  • Maintaining the availability, performance, and security of Kafka infrastructure.
  • Creating and managing Kafka topics, producers, consumers, Python-based Kafka consumers, and producers to enable efficient data processing with other systems.
  • Familiarity with related technologies like Kafka Connect, and Kafka Streams enhances effectiveness.
