What is the opportunity?
  • RBC Capital Markets is seeking an experienced Java Developer with strong server-side expertise and low latency systems knowledge to join our Credit eTrading technology team.
  • In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining enterprise-grade backend systems and server-side applications for Global Spread Products.
  • You will work with a talented team of engineers to design, develop, and support mission-critical trading systems that power our business.
  • Full stack capabilities are beneficial, but server-side development expertise is the primary mandate for this position.
What will you do?
  • You will be part of the Global Spread Products team within Credit eTrading, a fast-paced environment where your contributions directly impact trading operations and business outcomes
  • Build and improve the scalable data platform that powers analytics and AI tools across our trading and banking divisions, managing data pipelines, analytics products, system performance, and cost efficiency
  • Create standardized processes and operational approaches for eTrading workflows, including model packaging, deployment standards, and reproducible training methods
  • You will develop performance-critical trading systems where low latency optimization is essential to our competitive advantage
  • Partner with business teams to understand their needs, manage expectations, and ensure new products are adopted and scaled across the organization
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify technical bottlenecks, recommend platform improvements, and prioritize work to maximize long-term efficiency
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of strong, hands-on experience developing Java and J2EE/JEE technologies with emphasis on server-side development.
  • Proven track record of translating complex business problems into robust, well-tested data products used by demanding stakeholders
  • Multithreading experience is mandatory, as our systems rely on concurrent processing
  • Experience with low latency performance optimization and understanding techniques to minimize latency in high-frequency trading systems
  • Ability to work effectively with both business teams and technical partners, handle competing priorities professionally, and keep projects aligned with business goals
Nice-to-have
  • Familiarity with capital markets operations, client engagement models, or investment banking workflows
  • Familiarity with enterprise messaging systems such as Solace is highly valued
  • Experience with entity resolution, graph-based data structures, or event-driven data products

The Expected Salary Range For The Above Position Is $135,000 - $225,000 Depending On Factors Including But Not Limited To The Candidate's Experience, Skills, Registration Status; Market Conditions; And Business Needs.This Salary Range Does Not Include Other Elements Of Total Compensation, Including A Discretionary Bonus And Benefits Such As A 401(K) Program With Company-Matching Contributions; Health, Dental, Vision, Life And Disability Insurance; And Paid Time-Off Plan.
