Job description

Responsible for ensuring material availability to support production through effective inventory control, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and accurate kitting of production orders. This role works closely with Purchasing, Production, and Engineering to maintain inventory accuracy, optimize material flow, and ensure timely delivery of components to manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory transactions including receiving, inspection, kitting, cycle counts, and inventory adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the MRP system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages, excess inventory, and obsolete materials.
  • Create, verify, and issue production kits in accordance with Bills of Material (BOMs) and production schedules.
  • Compile kits including bin labeling, printing drawings, unboxing parts, and cutting raw materials.
  • Ensure kits are complete, accurate, and delivered to production on time.
  • Support engineering change orders (ECOs) by managing material transitions and inventory updates.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with annual physical inventories.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances and root causes.
  • Work with the Production Manager to ensure materials are available to meet manufacturing schedules.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control procedures and work instructions.
  • Generate inventory and material planning reports for management.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, and material flow.
  • Responsible for issuing day-to-day shipments and assisting with full system shipments.
  • Perform simple QC inspections on custom machined parts.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in inventory control, production planning, warehouse operations, or materials management.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Unanet, AIM, or Infor.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
    • Bills of Material (BOMs)
    • Inventory management
    • Shipping, Receiving, & Kitting
    • Manufacturing workflows
    • Production scheduling
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • APICS/ASCM CPIM certification or equivalent.
  • International & hazardous shipping experience
  • Experience in quality control
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, automotive, or other discrete manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, and 5S principles.
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
