Job description

Summary:

The Medical Assistant Skills Instructor provides classroom, laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical instruction within the Medical Assistant program. Responsibilities include teaching clinical medical assisting skills, supervising hands-on laboratory and skills-based instruction, evaluating student competencies, supporting certification preparation, maintaining laboratory operations, and assisting students in developing the clinical skills, professionalism, and entry-level competencies required for professional practice in ambulatory healthcare settings.

Working Hours:

This is a part-time hourly position. Up to 29 hours per week. Work hours are based on program needs, course scheduling, and enrollment. Classes are offered throughout most of the year but may not run continuously year-round. This position reports to the Director of Non-Credit Healthcare Programs. Work hours and instructional assignments, including program location, will be determined by the Director in collaboration with the employee prior to the start of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    1.Plan, develop, and provide the educational curriculum for the medical assistant training program in accordance with federal and state requirements and ensure the curriculum is current and accurate.
    2.Responsible for teaching the course curriculum and clinical skills as outlined in the approved program.
    3.Sets student expectations and builds knowledge and clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain medical assistant certification.
    4.Ensure competency assessments and instructional materials are relevant to the curriculum.
    5.Responsible for evaluating and documenting students' progress and competency and maintaining accurate records.
    6.Provide remedial assistance to students as needed
    7.Provide leadership in formulating goals and objectives of the medical assistant training program.
    8.Strive to remain current in professional practice.
    9.Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
    10.Develop and deliver comprehensive lectures and hands-on training in medical assisting, including anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, patient care, and clinical procedures.
    11.Assess student learning through exams, assignments, and practical evaluations, providing timely and constructive feedback.
    12.Facilitate hands-on lab activities and clinical experiences to prepare students for real-world healthcare settings.
    13.Advise and mentor students to support their academic and professional development.
    14.Collaborate with faculty and administration to enhance program curriculum, learning outcomes, and instructional materials.
    15.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
    16.Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and healthcare regulations.
    17.Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and program assessments.
    18.Utilize educational technology, learning management systems (LMS), and simulation tools to enhance student learning.
    19.Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:Required:
    1.Current unrestricted RN License in PA
    2.Associate degree in Nursing or higher preferred.
    3.Strong communication and instructional skills.
    4.Minimum of two (2) years recent clinical experience in ambulatory care, physician office practice, or related healthcare setting.
