The Role at a Glance

The Wage Agency Instructor, under direction, will assist in training various specialty skilled and/or semi-skilled courses within the Transportation Program. This position is responsible for utilizing knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to help maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. The Wage Agency Instructor will perform online and/or classroom instruction, field-based skills training, and/or may provide technical assistance in a specialty area. This position will use a variety of media to present course material. The Wage Agency Instructor will assist in creating new and/or updating curriculum content, when necessary, to meet learners' needs. The instructor is expected to maintain their technical competence and skills.

This position will report to the Agency Training Manager.

Required Qualifications of the Role

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

  • Four years of experience in roadway design, transportation, and highway safety.

  • One year of adult education and/or training experience.

  • Must hold a PE (Professional Engineer) certification.

  • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Education/Experience Equivalency: Will consider an associate's degree and six years of experience in roadway design, transportation, and highway safety or a high school diploma/GED and eight years of experience in roadway design, transportation, and highway safety. Must also have one year of adult education and/or training experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years in transportation and roadway design related discipline.

  • Knowledge of Texas Department of Transportation regulations.

  • Five or more years of adult education and/or training.
