Position Summary:
Yeshiva University announces its new College of Dental Medicine and is hiring new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today's dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative "Block" style curriculum, which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding. Please join this new DDS program.
The Clinical & Preclinical Instructor(s) will provide hands-on instruction to pre-clinical and clinical dental students, ensuring they develop foundational clinical skills in a simulated environment. This role focuses on guiding students in techniques, procedures, and protocols essential for clinical practice. The Instructors will collaborate with other faculty and staff to maintain a supportive and innovative learning environment that reflects the dental school's commitment to excellence.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Dental Education. The Clinical & Preclinical Instructor(s) are responsible for delivering integrated instruction across both the preclinical simulation laboratory and the clinical patient care environment. This role is designed to ensure continuity between foundational skill development and real-world clinical application, supporting the YUCDM model of early clinical exposure and competency-based progression.
Schedule:
  • Monday through Thursday, plus Friday mornings
  • Rotational assignment between the simulation lab and the clinic based on curricular needs

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct instruction and supervision in the preclinical simulation laboratory, including typodont-based exercises and procedural skill development
  • Supervise and mentor students on the clinic floor during patient care sessions, reinforcing clinical techniques, professionalism, and patient management
  • Ensure alignment between preclinical instruction and clinical expectations, promoting seamless transition of skills
  • Evaluate student performance using standardized YUCDM rubrics and provide real-time formative feedback
  • Support competency development and readiness for summative assessments
  • Collaborate with course directors and clinical leadership to maintain consistency in instructional standards and calibration
  • Participate in faculty calibration sessions and ongoing educational development initiatives
  • Skill Development and Assessment: Guide students in developing manual dexterity, procedural accuracy, and clinical decision-making skills; assess performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Student Mentorship: Mentor students in the development of professional skills, ethical practice, and patient-centered care principles
  • Simulation Lab Maintenance: Assist in maintaining simulation lab equipment and materials, ensuring functionality and availability for instructional activities
  • Collaborative Teaching: Work with other faculty to integrate simulated experiences with didactic coursework, enhancing the overall educational experience
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in program evaluation and quality assurance initiatives to continuously improve instructional methods and student outcomes

Experience & Educational Background:
  • DDS/DMD or equivalent degree from a CODA-accredited institution
  • Eligibility for dental licensure in New York State
  • Clinical experience in general dentistry; prior teaching or instructional experience in a simulation lab or clinical setting is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical education support, faculty practice oversight, and compliance with CODA and institutional accreditation standards
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and laws/regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry in New York State
