The International College of Health Sciences (ICHS) is hiring a skilled OB Clinical Instructor / Simulation Instructor to support our School of Nursing in the Boynton Beach / West Palm Beach area. This role combines direct supervision of students in obstetric/maternalโ€“newborn clinical settings with high-fidelity simulation instruction using Gaumard mannequins in our campus lab.


Purpose

The OB Clinical Instructor / Simulation Instructor provides direct instruction and supervision to nursing students in OB/maternalโ€“newborn clinical environments and in the simulation lab. The role ensures students develop safe, competent practice, sound clinical judgment, and professional behaviors when caring for childbearing individuals and newborns.


Responsibilities

OB Clinical Instruction & Supervision

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing students in OB/maternalโ€“newborn clinical settings (e.g., L&D, postpartum, newborn nursery, motherโ€“baby).
  • Demonstrate and reinforce best practices in obstetric and newborn nursing care, patient safety, and effective interprofessional communication.
  • Ensure student compliance with clinical site policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and document student performance according to program requirements.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that promotes student confidence and critical thinking.

Simulation & Lab Instruction

  • Facilitate OB and maternalโ€“newborn focused high-fidelity simulation sessions and related lab activities aligned with course outcomes.
  • Operate, program, and troubleshoot Gaumard high-fidelity mannequins and related simulation software and A/V systems.
  • Conduct structured pre-briefings and debriefings that promote clinical reasoning, reflection, and professional communication.
  • Demonstrate and supervise OB-related skills and assessments (e.g., fetal monitoring concepts, postpartum assessments, newborn assessments, medication administration).
  • Evaluate student performance in simulation using established rubrics and competency checklists and provide clear, actionable feedback.

Professional Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison between ICHS, clinical site staff, and students
  • Maintain open, professional communication with faculty, administration, and clinical partners
  • Attend faculty meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities

Administrative Duties

  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of student attendance, progress, and evaluations
  • Report any student or site concerns to the appropriate academic leadership
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standards

Education / Experience / Knowledge

  • Unencumbered Florida or Compact State RN License required
  • Minimum 4 years clinical experience as an RN required
  • Minimum of an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited school; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Experience in clinical instruction, preceptorship, or nursing education preferred
