Position Overview: The Dimensional Inspector performs quality inspections of castings and/or test blocks in accordance with the customer’s purchase order requirements. This will be achieved with safety as our priority and to achieve standard cost while upholding our quality and delivery. Dimensional Inspector must support compliance with the requirements of customer purchase orders and Vulcan Metals Tacoma Foundry’s quality system.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Must be a US Person to perform inspection with restricted documents including Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information
  • Review of customer’s dimensional specification requirements under current job routing system
  • Review of customer’s drawing requirements
  • Set up parts on layout table, safely using overhead crane in compliance with JSA procedures
  • Evaluate and set-up best fit of parts for machine set-up in compliance to drawing’s requirements
  • Perform basic computer skills such as excel, pdf, and word document
  • Perform precise measuring using various tools in accordance with ASME and ISO standards
  • Update master dimensional report in accordance with PO drawing revisions
  • Maintain daily housekeeping in the work area
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years as a Dimensional Inspector or similar experience such as carpentry, machining, or pattern making
  • Prior experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates/Bachelors degree or trade school certification preferred
  • Employment eligibility requires U.S. person status under ITAR regulations, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or other protected individuals due to export control requirements.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word
  • Ability to use various methods of measurement
  • Ability to monitor tool schedule for ongoing calibration program
  • Familiarity Casting and machine tolerance dimension
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand and walk on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for the duration of the work shift
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to twist, stoop, bend, and stand in the performance of job duties
  • Must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must have good eye coordination
Pay Range: $23.31 - $30.43 an hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
