Landscape Inspector- Weston

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Landscape Coordinator to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunities for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. You’ll be a member of our highly respected team of professionals with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Coordinate the scheduling and activities of contractors, consultants, inspectors, and vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Perform routine field inspections of landscape maintenance, irrigation, tree care, and enhancement projects to verify compliance with contract requirements and City standards.
  • Review work orders within the City's asset management system for completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation.
  • Verify contractor work, materials, irrigation repair components, and completed installations for quality and contract compliance.
  • Document project progress using GPS equipment, photographs, inspection reports, and daily activity logs.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, contractor performance, materials used, project status, and field observations.
  • Monitor job sites to ensure compliance with maintenance of traffic requirements, environmental regulations, and safe work practices.
  • Identify deficiencies or non-compliant work and communicate corrective actions to contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Travel between multiple project sites to perform inspections and monitor contractor performance.
  • Respond professionally to inquiries from residents, contractors, City staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform additional administrative and field duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
  • Working knowledge of horticulture, arboriculture, turf management, irrigation systems, landscape maintenance, and plant health.
  • Ability to identify trees, shrubs, turf, and ornamental plants by both common and botanical names.
  • Knowledge of plant diseases, pests, fertilization practices, and proper landscape installation techniques.
  • Understanding of landscape plans, specifications, contract documents, and inspection procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience using GPS equipment, mobile devices, and work order management software is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to recognize non-compliant work and recommend practical corrective solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with contractors, municipal staff, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or higher in Horticulture, Agronomy, Landscape Architecture, Arboriculture, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in landscape maintenance, landscape inspection, horticulture, irrigation, arboriculture, or a related field may be substituted for formal education.
  • Technical training and practical experience in horticulture, arboriculture, irrigation systems, turf management, or landscape maintenance required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • ISA Certified Arborist certification preferred or must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
  • Landscape Inspectors Association of Florida (LIAF) Landscape Inspector certification preferred or must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
