Manager, Insurance Risk Management
As Manager of Insurance Risk Management, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining comprehensive and cost-effective programs of insurance and self-insurance on behalf of Ardent Mills' operations and corporate assets in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. This involves identifying and assessing the risks involved in the business operations, evaluating the use of insurance and other risk transfer alternatives, identifying and selecting vendors and insurance partners, managing claims activity and negotiating insurance coverage terms, conditions and pricing. This role will also be responsible for supporting insurance services contract negotiation, managing the day-to-day aspects of insurance programs across Property, casualty, and employee liability, claims administration across all lines and participating in relevant cross-functional workstreams.
Your responsibilities:
  • Execute the global hazard risk management program strategy in accordance with Ardent Mills' overall risk appetite.
  • Analyze and define potential loss areas and determine appropriate type and level of protection to be insured or retained, including which risk funding tool to utilize.
  • Manage relationships with insurers, brokers and related service providers. Negotiate scope of services, fees and performance criteria.
  • Lead the creation and preparation of communication materials of all insurance related activities to leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Create, maintain and forecast the insurance budget for the organization including the aggregation and tracking of all policy premiums, claims, expected loss accruals and monthly adjustments with support from Accounting and FP&A teams.
  • Develop policies, procedures and process for submission and management/adjustment of claims under all lines of coverage.
  • Manage, monitor and resolve complex property, liability claims
  • Manage Workers Compensation claims with support from a third-party administrator. Partner internally via cross functional leads in operations, HR and legal
  • Team with EHS, HR and Legal to continuously improve inter-function collaboration in occupational injury mitigation and claim management processes.
  • Support the development and and facilitation of the Enterprise Risk Management governance processes throughout the organization.
  • Facilitate the design and implementation of risk mitigation plans.
  • Partner with Legal in review of contractual insurance provisions to ensure Ardent Mills can comply with the requirements.
  • Develop insurance requirements for third parties to protect Ardent Mills' interests.
  • Direct insurance strategy, due diligence and implementation in teamwork with M&A project management teams.
  • Other risk management projects as assigned.
  • Travel: 10%-20%.
  • People Management: Individual Contributor.

Essential skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field. MBA or other advanced post graduate degree is a plus.
  • 7years+ of corporate insurance / risk management experience, with some insurance / reinsurance broking, broker consulting or insurer underwriting experience preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or RIMS-CRMP (Certified Risk Management Professional) a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of insurance industry, markets and insurance trends across all lines of coverage.
  • Working knowledge of corporate alternative risk transfer tools, including captives.
  • Knowledge of insurance policies and legal contracts as they relate to respective areas of insurance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing successful relationships with external partners, including brokers, insurers and other insurance risk services providers vendors.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and planning skills.
  • Highly organized with ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Very good oral and written communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work cross functionally, have a passion to learn the business, and willingness to be a "doer" of what ever is needed to complete the work.
