Job description

McGuireWoods LLP is seeking a dynamic Attorney Recruiting Coordinator to support our law student recruiting initiatives. This role, based in our Richmond, VA office, is ideal for someone passionate about early talent engagement, relationship-building, and delivering an exceptional candidate experience, with a particular focus on recruiting from law schools. As a key member of the recruiting team, you will help strengthen the firmโ€™s presence at targeted law schools, manage a best-in-class Summer Associate Program, and create meaningful connections with future legal talent.

  • Drive law school recruiting efforts across assigned schools and offices, supporting the firmโ€™s strategy for attracting top law student talent.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with law school career services offices, student groups, and key stakeholders to enhance the firmโ€™s presence and reputation.
  • Lead coordination of the Summer Associate Program in the assigned offices, including pre-summer planning, onboarding, programming, social events, and project assignment processesโ€”ensuring a high-quality and engaging experience.
  • Manage the law student interview process, delivering a seamless and positive experience for candidates and interviewers alike.
  • Partner with attorneys and recruiting leadership to support hiring decisions.
  • Support outreach and engagement initiatives such as on-campus events and networking programs.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance recruiting processes and programming to improve efficiency, engagement, and outcomes.

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree and 3+ years of experience in recruiting, program coordination, event planning, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in law student recruiting, early talent engagement, or campus recruiting.
  • Experience working with law schools strongly preferred; experience in broader university recruiting or university relations is highly valued and transferable.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and deliver a high-touch, client-service-oriented experience.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a high level of professionalism.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel for law school recruiting events, programs, and firm initiatives.
  • Interest in using innovative AI technology, including Harvey and Copilot, to support efficient high-impact work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and experience using applicant tracking systems or similar tools to support data tracking, reporting, and an efficient recruiting workflow.
