Job description

Lifesteps in Butler, PA is hiring a part-time Accounting Associate to assist the Fiscal and Accounting Department with preparing financial records and reports.

Lifesteps is a non-profit, human services organization which has been serving Western Pennsylvania for over 100 years by โ€œhelping individuals and families with life's changing needsโ€. The Agency provides programs and services to help children, adults, seniors and those with special needs live to their fullest potential. If you have a strong desire to help others and serve the community, this could be the right opportunity for you.

The Accountant is responsible for the preparation and proofing of financial records and documents. The Accountant performs efficient and accurate data entry into the Micro Information Processing (M.I.P.) Accounting System. The part-time hours will be during the week (Monday thru Friday) and can be up to 19 hours per week.

JOB DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Manage accounting transactions and assist with bookkeeping
  • Prepare budget forecasts
  • Assist with creation of financial statements
  • Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  • Assist with reconciling accounts payable and receivable
  • Ensure timely bank payments
  • Assist with computing taxes and prepare tax returns
  • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statement


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management or related field with 4 years of related experience
  • OR Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management or related field with 1 year of related experience
  • Excellent thought processing, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Accounting software experience such as Abila M.I.P.
