) POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Wellness and Vitality, the Fitness Center Associate is responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy exercise environment. Ensuring that members have a positive experience. The Fitness Center Associate must have knowledge of the fitness equipment and must adherence to policies, protocols, purpose and give excellent customer service.
POSITION DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for orientating members to use the machines properly.
  • Maintain a professional appearance by wearing appropriate clothing and footwear. Encourage members to do the same.
  • Provide a friendly environment for the members by introducing yourself, learning members' names, and introducing members to each other.
  • Be a positive example to the members, encourage and coach members on proper techniques using positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Provide an open environment of on-going fitness education as part of daily communication with members.
  • Ensure fitness center, equipment and pool are always clean.
  • Return all equipment to their proper place. Report all issues with equipment or members directly to the Director of Wellness and Vitality
  • Responsible for answering the phone, giving tours, and registering new members.
  • Create signs and informational documents.
  • Collaborate with the Director to create new fun activities and challenges for those in the fitness center and pool.
  • Be knowledgeable and support all other programs and offerings including the Overlook Mission.
  • Lead, assist and substitute fitness center programs and classes.
  • Attend all regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Incorporate The Culture of Excellence.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Director or Executive Director.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Educational Background in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Health Education, or a related field - preferred
  • CPR/First Aid/ AED certification.
  • Excellent oral communication skills to collaborate positively with members and staff.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and video systems.
