Job description

Title: Health Science/Simulation Laboratory Technician
Number of Positions: 1
Department: Health Sciences/Nursing
Classification: 3 on campus
Pay Rate: $42,510-$52,200/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.

Reference check requirements: Three (3) professional references, two (2) of which should be former or current supervisors and (1) professional reference.
Personal references (friends, clergy, customers, relatives) are not considered acceptable references.
A professional reference such as a previous or current co-worker may be used as one of the references.
Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to assist in setting up and maintaining Health Science labs, primarily Surgical Technology, Radiologic Technology, and Nursing as needed site campuses with the required supplies, materials, and equipment for the faculty. This includes repackaging supplies, assisting to set up the Operating Room, coordinating equipment with the coordinators and in hospital lab spaces, and cleaning equipment. This position is also responsible for handling and coordinating delicate and expensive equipment at the site campuses and affiliated hospitals.
Essential Functions:
40% Set up Surgical Technician and Radiologic Technician laboratories with required supplies, materials, and equipment: repackage supplies, provide working equipment for students to use, ensure that supplies are readily available, and clean equipment after labs. Assist Nursing with any of these needs as well.
25% Communicate laboratory and general supplies for Health Science Courses (Surgical Technician, Radiologic Technician, and Nursing).
15% Inventory supplies, check equipment, and perform minor repairs or adjustments on equipment, under the direction of the Health Science Lab Coordinator. Be able to travel to all campuses and affiliate hospitals that assist with labs.
10% Clean up of labs after completion of lab exercises, maintaining a clean lab environment in the Health Science lab spaces. Ensure that equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately and according to safety standards.
5% Coordinate with the Health Science Lab Coordinator on simulation needs and assistance. Collaborate with faculty and staff in all Health Science programs for combined simulation experiences.
5% Participate in lab meetings within each program and across the Health Science Department as needed/assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • An Associate Degree is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Couse work should include science courses.
  • At least two years of related experience in a lab position or simulation experience.
  • Experience of at least two years in a health-care related field staff position preferred.
  • Plans to participate in simulation training will be expected.

Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience.

Physical Demands: This is a physically demanding position. Some equipment must be moved to within the lab areas and storage area. As supplies arrive on campus, they must be unpacked and stored in the correct storage area or reshipped to the other campuses.
Hazards: The position is exposed to a multitude of supplies that can cause injury. There are several physical injuries that can occur, (cuts, scrapes, punctures).
