Job Purpose
ICE Mortgage Technology (IMT) develops and maintains the technology platforms that power the modern mortgage lifecycle - from origination through servicing. Our engineering teams build the systems that lenders, servicers, and consumers rely on every day to manage one of the most significant financial transactions in their lives.
We are seeking a Full Stack Developer I to join our innovative development team. In this role, you will contribute to building and modernizing the applications at the core of our mortgage servicing platform. You will work on well-defined features and components under the guidance of senior engineers, and be part of a team actively transitioning legacy systems to modern, scalable architecture.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain full-stack feature development using React on the frontend and Java/Spring Boot microservices on the backend, under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Maintain of existing C#/.NET applications and MS SQL databases, and assist with migration efforts to Java/Spring Boot and PostgreSQL
  • Write and maintain PostgreSQL queries and assist with schema work to support application performance and data integrity
  • Create and maintain RESTful APIs, adhering to data governance policies and procedures; integrate with React-based frontends
  • Implement new features and enhancements to existing functionality with defined standards and peer collaboration
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and team standards
  • Leverage AI as a core development tool to accelerate workflows including code generation, documentation, and code review assistance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in both backend and frontend systems, using AI-assisted tools to diagnose and resolve issues faster
  • Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
  • Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and functionality, including AI-assisted test generation and coverage analysis
  • Stay current with relevant technologies, frameworks, and emerging AI/LLM capabilities relevant to the tech stack
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent experience
  • Foundational knowledge of Java and Spring Boot
  • Experience with React, JavaScript (ES6+), and/or TypeScript
  • Experience with SQL and relational database concepts; exposure to PostgreSQL is a plus
  • Understanding of web application and API security principles
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Comfort using AI as a daily tool across the software development lifecycle, from design through testing and deployment

Preferred Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
  • Knowledge of containerization concepts (Docker)
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks
  • Understanding of responsive design and accessibility standards
  • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with getting the most out of AI through clear prompting and understanding its strengths and limitations in a development context
