Job Summary:
The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a neuromuscular neurologist to join our growing team.
- This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
- Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles: Clinical Assistant Professor (CT), Clinical Associate Professor (CT), Clinical Professor (CT). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
- This position will be a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.
- This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
- This vacancy is being announced simultaneously with JR#10009835; please note that only one vacancy exists. Having two job postings allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider candidates with both CHS and CT track credentials for this position.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Clinical activities include outpatient and inpatient service at UW Hospital and Clinics, VA Hospital and/or other affiliated locations as needed. Weekly clinical activities will generally include outpatient neuromuscular clinics, EMG clinics and
muscle/nerve biopsy activities. Outpatient activities may include general neurology clinics and residency continuity clinic,
depending upon department needs.
- Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
- The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the rank and in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
- In the Clinician Teacher (CT) Track, faculty provide patient care as their primary responsibility (90%); clinical teaching is expected. The remaining 10% of time is dedicated to research, teaching and/or service, depending on the candidate's interest.
- If candidate chooses to pursue research, efforts could include clinical trials or collaborations with established researchers. Teaching efforts are typically within the context of the clinical practice and include teaching of medical students, residents and/or fellows; however, other classroom opportunities exist.

The Department of Neurology has over 65 faculty and 25 advanced practice providers located at 20 S. Park/Meriter Hospital, University of Wisconsin Hospitals and UW Health Clinics. This is a diverse group of generalists and specialists that provides primary, secondary, and tertiary inpatient and outpatient care. Required Qualifications:
- Must have completed a neurology residency program.
- Neuromuscular fellowship or equivalent experience required.
- Training in muscle/nerve pathology desirable.
- Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in one of the following: American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
- Must have a WI medical license by the start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT track.
Education:
MD or DO or equivalent is required by the start date.
