Food & Beverage: Lead Cook & Front-End Service Associate

Job Summary

The Lead Cook & Front-End Service Associate is a dual‐role position responsible for both kitchen production and front‐of‐house guest service at the Junior National Snack Bar. This team member prepares light food items following standardized recipes, operates the point‐of‐sale system, provides friendly and efficient customer service, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The role supports daily snack bar operations, inventory, and communication with golf operations to enhance the overall member, guest, and junior‐athlete experience.

Primary Responsibilities

FOOD PREPARATION & KITCHEN OPERATIONS

• Prepare, cook, and assemble menu items according to established recipes and portion standards.

• Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness throughout all kitchen areas.

• Set up and break down cooking stations daily.

• Ensure food is prepared and served promptly during busy periods.

• Monitor product freshness, quality, and consistency.

FRONT-END SERVICE & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

• Greet members, guests, and junior athletes with a positive, welcoming attitude.

• Take orders accurately and efficiently using the POS system.

• Prepare beverages, grab‐and‐go items, and ensure fast, friendly service.

• Manage front counter presentation, cleanliness, and restocking.

• Handle payments, receipts, and cash drawer accuracy.

OPERATIONS SUPPORT & LEADERSHIP

• Provide guidance and direction to snack bar teammates during shifts.

• Assist with training new staff on food prep, POS use, cleaning standards, and service expectations.

• Communicate with golf operations staff regarding tournament needs, group orders, or service timing.

• Open or close the snack bar depending on scheduled shifts.

 

INVENTORY & COST MANAGEMENT

• Assist with receiving, stocking, rotating, and monitoring inventory.

• Maintain par levels for food, beverages, disposables, and supplies.

• Reduce waste through proper portioning, rotation, and storage.

SAFETY, SANITATION & COMPLIANCE

• Follow all health department standards, food safety regulations, and club guidelines.

• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen, service counter, and dining area.

• Report equipment failures, safety hazards, or supply shortages promptly.

 

Success Traits

• 1–3 years of cooking, café, concession, or customer‐service experience preferred.

• Ability to follow and replicate light‐prep recipes consistently.

• Strong communication and guest‐service skills.

• Comfortable multitasking in a fast‐paced environment.

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

• Basic cash‐handling and POS experience preferred.

• Food Handler’s Card required (or ability to obtain).

• Availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
