General Description
We are seeking a driven and strategic Project Pursuit Account Manager to lead the identification, development, and capture of major project opportunities across R.E. Mason's territory for the Final Control Division to include valves, instrumentation, services, process equipment, etc. This role focuses on building and executing pursuit strategies for large capital projects involving industrial end users, EPCs, consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, and OEMs.
As a member of the Project Pursuit Team, the successful candidate will develop relationships with key project stakeholders, influence specifications, identify emerging opportunities, and coordinate internal resources to maximize project win rates. This individual will play a critical role in supporting R.E. Mason's growth initiatives within power generation, data centers, life sciences, manufacturing, and other strategic markets.
The ideal candidate thrives in complex selling environments, enjoys developing long-term project opportunities, and excels at coordinating multiple stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes. This role requires a blend of business development expertise, strategic thinking, technical aptitude, and strong relationship-building skills.
Rather than managing day-to-day account activity, this position focuses on identifying, qualifying, positioning, and capturing large project opportunities that create long-term value for customers and R.E. Mason. As a member of the Project Pursuit Team, we have a team selling culture and environment to ensure our best chance of collectively winning projects.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Strategic Project Development & Pursuit
    • Identify, qualify, and prioritize large project opportunities throughout the territory.
    • Develop project pursuit strategies and capture plans for strategic opportunities.
    • Maintain an active project pipeline using CRM tools and project databases.
    • Track projects from early planning and specification through award and execution.
    • Lead project review meetings and coordinate pursuit activities across multiple teams.

    EPC, Contractor & Influencer Engagement
    • Build and maintain relationships with EPCs, consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, OEMs, and strategic end users.
    • Influence project specifications and standards during front-end engineering and design phases.
    • Position Emerson and R.E. Mason solutions as the preferred choice for targeted projects.
    • Develop account strategies for key project influencers and buying centers.

    Business Development & Market Expansion
    • Identify new market opportunities and emerging industries including power generation, data centers, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and energy transition projects.
    • Develop growth strategies for strategic markets and target accounts.
    • Collaborate with sales leadership and business unit leaders to align project pursuits with company objectives.
    • Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to expand market visibility.

    Proposal Development & Capture Management
    • Lead project capture efforts for high-value opportunities.
    • Coordinate with Application Engineering, Inside Sales, Project Management, and Operations to develop winning proposals.
    • Develop customer-specific value propositions and competitive positioning strategies.
    • Support commercial negotiations and contract development activities.
    • Ensure smooth transition of awarded projects to project execution teams.

    Collaboration & Leadership
    • Coordinate cross-functional pursuit teams comprised of sales, engineering, project management, operations, and marketing personnel.
    • Provide project intelligence and opportunity updates to leadership and stakeholders.
    • Engage Emerson business units and factory resources to strengthen project positioning.
    • Share market trends, competitive intelligence, and customer insights across the organization.
    Maintain Project Funnel Data and Strategy in CRM System Engagement: Through a balance of virtual and in-person customer engagements, the account manager will seek to understand and qualify the customer's needs to present comprehensive solutions to close business.

Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in industrial sales, project pursuit, business development, application engineering, project management, or a related field.
  • Experience working with EPCs, consulting engineers, contractors, OEMs, or industrial end users.
  • Demonstrated success developing and capturing large project opportunities.
  • Knowledge of industrial process control, automation, valves, instrumentation, reliability, or related technologies preferred.
  • Experience managing long sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and project influencers.
