What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Associate FastAPI Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Associate FastAPI Developer, you need a strong understanding of Python programming, RESTful API design, and experience with the FastAPI framework, often supported by a relevant degree or coding bootcamp. Familiarity with databases (like PostgreSQL or MongoDB), version control systems (such as Git), and containerization tools (like Docker) is typically expected. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with teams and deliver robust solutions. These skills ensure efficient, scalable API development and seamless integration within modern software engineering environments.

What is an Associate FastAPI developer?

An Associate FastAPI developer is an entry- to mid-level software professional who specializes in building web applications and APIs using FastAPI, a modern Python web framework. Their responsibilities often include developing endpoints, integrating databases, writing unit tests, and maintaining code quality. They typically work as part of a larger development team, assisting in the design and implementation of scalable and high-performance web services. Job description

Lead Full-Stack Developer
Remote
This role supports a federal client and requires the ability to obtain a public trust clearance. No sponsorship is available.
We are seeking a Lead Full-Stack Developer to support a major federal modernization initiative focused on building secure, scalable, cloud-native applications on AWS. This is a remote, hands-on technical leadership role for someone who can lead architecture, mentor developers, define technical standards, and still contribute directly to full-stack engineering.
What You Will Do:
• Lead and mentor full-stack development teams supporting cloud modernization, product development, and solution architecture initiatives.
• Provide hands-on full-stack engineering and architectural oversight for secure, scalable, distributed applications built on AWS.
• Design and implement frontend and backend services using Python, JavaScript, Django, Vue.js, REST APIs, microservices, containers, and AWS-native services.
• Collaborate with clients, solution architects, product owners, UX designers, business analysts, platform engineers, and development teams to deliver resilient software products that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
• Define application architecture standards, development best practices, design patterns, and technical roadmaps across complex modernization projects.
• Ensure solutions align with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles, modern CI/CD practices, API-first design, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native engineering standards.
• Lead technical decision-making, evaluate design tradeoffs, provide escalation support, and guide implementation across multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Support proof-of-concept development, technical demonstrations, proposal efforts, RFP responses, and technical thought leadership.
What You Will Need:
• Ability to obtain a public trust clearance.
• No sponsorship available.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant full-stack application development experience, including at least 4 years in technical leadership, architecture, or team lead roles.
• Bachelor's degree required, or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and JavaScript.
• Experience leading or mentoring teams of 5 or more developers.
• Experience building frontend and backend services for cloud-native software products.
• Django experience preferred; Flask, FastAPI, Falcon, or SQLAlchemy may be considered as alternatives.
• Vue.js experience preferred; React, Svelte, or Angular 1.6+ may be considered as alternatives.
• Experience with microservices architecture, REST API design, Docker or Kubernetes, serverless computing, and CI/CD for enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with AWS SAM and design patterns such as MVC, Circuit Breaker, and Event-Driven Architecture.
• Ability to design, build, test, deploy, and architect custom AWS cloud applications.
• Strong understanding of Agile and Scaled Agile software delivery practices.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What Would Be Nice to Have:
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
• AWS Certified Developer - Associate.
• Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, EKS/Kubernetes, RDS PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Memcached, Elasticsearch, Docker, and modern monitoring/observability tools.
• Experience supporting technical proposals, white papers, RFPs/RFIs, or consulting solution architecture efforts.
• Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and operational resilience for large-scale distributed systems.
• Contributions to open-source projects, technical publications, or cloud-native development thought leadership.
