Job description

Morbark LLC located in Winn, Michigan is looking for a Buyer - Purchasing Morbark LLC offers competitive compensation and a variety of benefits including:

The Buyer I is responsible for the day-to-day execution of purchasing activities to support production and material availability. This position manages routine purchase orders, supplier communication, material follow-up, engineering changes, and inventory support. The Buyer I works within established purchasing processes and develops the knowledge and skills necessary to independently manage suppliers and purchasing responsibilities.
Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Create, maintain, and manage purchase orders in the ERP system with a high level of accuracy.
  • Review purchasing requirements and place orders in accordance with production and inventory needs.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding order acknowledgments, pricing, delivery dates, shortages, and past-due orders.
  • Expedite materials to support production schedules and minimize material shortages.
  • Maintain accurate purchase order dates, quantities, pricing, and supplier information within the ERP system.
  • Support engineering changes by communicating updated requirements to suppliers and maintaining purchasing information.
  • Assist with inventory-related issues, discrepancies, and material availability concerns.
  • Work closely with Planning, Production, Engineering, Receiving, and other departments to support operational needs.
  • Identify purchasing or supplier issues and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Support continuous improvement activities within Purchasing and Supply Chain.
  • Develop knowledge of assigned suppliers, materials, commodities, and Morbark products.
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance, effective teamwork, and Morbark Core Values.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Entry-level to 2 years of purchasing, supply chain, manufacturing, materials, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • ERP experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Basic understanding of purchasing and supply chain processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment within a manufacturing facility. The position requires regular interaction with employees throughout the facility and may require occasional exposure to manufacturing areas, including noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. Regular use of a computer and telephone is required. Occasional travel to supplier locations, company facilities, or business meetings may be required. The position may require extended hours or additional availability to address critical supplier, material, or production-related issues. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when entering designated manufacturing areas.
