Job description

Job Summary 

As part of Marriott's Change Management and Associate Engagement team, the Senior Director, Change Management and Associate Engagement plays a pivotal role in advancing enterprise-wide transformation and elevating the associate experience. This leader will serve as a trusted change advisor, partnering across HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), including Associate Development, Talent Management, and Organizational Capability, to support the successful design and implementation of high-impact strategies that reshape how Marriott develops talent, builds leadership capability, and delivers learning at scale. 

In addition to leading end-to-end change management and associate engagement strategy across priority initiatives, this position will support the preparation of Board-level materials and strategic updates on behalf of Human Resources. The role demands a high degree of cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and executive presence. The Senior Director will also manage a high-performing team, cultivating a culture of curiosity, courage, and connectedness, empowering team members to grow, challenge the status quo, and work boldly and collaboratively in support of Marriott's transformation. 

Key Responsibilities 

Change Management Leadership 

  • Lead change management strategy, planning, and execution across global learning, talent, and capability-building programs. 
  • Translate HR and business priorities into comprehensive change and engagement plans that accelerate adoption and sustain impact. 
  • Guide senior stakeholders through the change journey with clear messaging, alignment, and sponsorship strategies. 
  • Build repeatable frameworks and scalable toolkits that support organizational change across disciplines and business units. 
  • Conduct impact assessments, readiness analyses, stakeholder interviews, and journey mapping to inform tailored interventions. 
  • Define and monitor adoption, utilization, and sustainment metrics to measure success and enable course correction. 

Associate Engagement & Communications 

  • Design and deliver associate engagement strategies for transformational HR and enterprise initiatives. 
  • Develop compelling communications tailored for a range of audiences; from senior executives to frontline associates, leveraging storytelling and digital engagement tools. 
  • Manage internal platforms and communication assets, including MGS presence, DLZ activations, toolkits, and cascade materials. 
  • Integrate data and insights from Talent Analytics to inform messaging and enhance engagement effectiveness. 
  • Equip leaders and people managers to serve as effective communicators and champions of change. 

Executive & Board-Level Support 

  • Prepare high-impact presentations, reports, and briefings for Board meetings and senior leadership updates, on behalf of the CHRO and EVP, Global Operations Services. 
  • Ensure complex strategies and progress updates are communicated in a clear, concise, and visually compelling manner. 
  • Coordinate input across stakeholders to align narratives and deliver polished, timely submissions that reflect Marriott's people and operational priorities. 

Cross-Functional Influence 

  • Serve as a connector across HR COEs and broader business functions to align change and engagement strategies. 
  • Provide coaching and consultation to initiative owners and project teams on change enablement and communications best practices. 
  • Collaborate with regional HR and business teams to localize strategies and support implementation across markets. 

Candidate Profile 

Required Experience & Qualifications 

  • 8+ years of progressive experience leading large-scale, enterprise-level change efforts preferably within HR, learning, or talent development domains. 
  • Demonstrated success in driving change for complex, global initiatives such as system implementations or learning transformations. 
  • Strong experience in preparing and presenting executive-level materials, including for Board or C-suite audiences. 
  • Deep knowledge of organizational behavior, stakeholder dynamics, and change communication principles. 
  • Proven ability to consult and influence senior leaders in matrixed environments; hospitality industry experience preferred. 
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Organizational Development, Business, Communications, or a related field strongly preferred.
