Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated SENIOR Endoscopy Technician to join our dynamic team. Our department consists of two dedicated Endoscopy labs performing a wide range of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The Endoscopy Technician plays a critical role in patient care by assisting the proceduralist during complex cases and ensuring the highest standards of infection control through meticulous endoscope reprocessing.
Education
  • HS - High School Grad or Equivalent REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a Surgical Tech or Endoscopy Tech programRequired. Trade School
  • Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) or SGNA Associate (GTS) preferred

Certification/Licensure
  • Require Society of Gastroenterology Nurses & Associates (SGNA) Certification None required

Experience
  • Required Endoscopy Experience - 3 years

Clinical Scope & Procedures
Our unit performs a mix of routine diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures, including:
  • Gastrointestinal: Diagnostic EGDs and Colonoscopies, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), and Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR).
  • Pulmonary: Diagnostic Bronchoscopies, Navigational Bronchoscopy, and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Intra-Procedural Assistance: Assist physicians and nurses during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Anticipate the needs of the proceduralist, handle specimens, and manage complex equipment setup.
  • Scope Reprocessing: Perform manual cleaning and high-level disinfection (HLD) of flexible endoscopes strictly adhering to manufacturer guidelines and infection control standards.
  • Room Turnover: Ensure procedure rooms are cleaned, stocked, and set up efficiently between cases to maintain department flow.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform leak testing and visual inspection of scopes; troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs as necessary.

Job responsibilities:
Assists with the patient care in the Endoscopy Department. Is familiar with gastrointestinal and pulmonary diseases and assists during endoscopic procedures. Responsible for the preparation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment and supplies. Functions under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
Schedule & Call Requirements
  • Standard Hours: 07:00 AM - 03:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • On-Call: Rotating call is required to cover emergencies outside of standard hours. Specific call expectations and frequency will be discussed in detail during the interview process.
