Job description

Senior Him Medical Records Technician

Performs the primary function of a Sr. HIM Medical Records Technician which encompass the whole realm of the integrity of the legal Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Must demonstrate knowledge in the transformation of paper records to the electronic medical record. The Sr. HIM Medical Records Technician shall work as part of a team in the function of prepping medical record(s), scanning records into EMR and performing first level of quality control assuring quality review of scanned documents. Responsible for analyzing the EMR to ensure record completion according to JC, state and federal regulatory requirements. The Sr. HIM Medical Records Technician is responsible for always applying the ACE-IT model when interacting with hospital staff, medical staff and other ancillary departments during entire process of validating the integrity of the legal EMR.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ months previous medical records or healthcare related field experience, and/or education in HIM related field, preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills required.
  • Knowledge of computers, copy machine, microfilm and reader printer preferred.
  • A valid Texas Driver's License; safe driving skills; the ability to safely operate company vehicles.
  • Flexible to travel to other facilities.
  • Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

Education / Licensure:

  • High School diploma or GED, required.
  • Associates degree in HIM, preferred.
