Job description

Engineering Associate

Employee will conduct engineering studies, prepare designs related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of public infrastructure, and perform development reviews for code conformance.

Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance of a Registered Professional Engineer, designing Public Works infrastructure projects
  • Reviewing construction plans for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards; reviews adequacy of various permit applications
  • Using a variety of software applications, performs water, wastewater, drainage, and traffic modeling to determine the impact of development on these systems
  • Conducting inspections and materials research and testing
  • Evaluating deliverables from consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and vendors, including reviewing plans and specifications
  • Providing oversight of Public Works infrastructure construction projects
  • Responding to public or other inquiries relative to engineering policies and procedures
  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of various material and construction cost databases
Work Environment
  • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high and precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration

Education and Experience

  • One (1) year of experience in engineering design and construction, or related fields is preferred
Special Requirements
  • Must have a valid Texas driverโ€™s license within ninety (90) days of hire
  • Must have a valid driverโ€™s license by date-of-hire
  • Physically be capable of moving about on construction work sites and under adverse field conditions.
  • Must possess an โ€œEngineer-In-Trainingโ€ certification and number or acquire same within one (1) year of hire date
