About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Associate to join our Electrical department in our Boston office. This leadership role offers the opportunity to manage a variety of projects from concept through completion while contributing to the strategic growth of the firm.
As a Senior Associate, you'll lead project teams, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with firm leadership to deliver high-quality engineering solutions and drive business development.
In this role, you will serve as a business development leader for the Boston market, responsible for cultivating client relationships, identifying and pursuing new revenue opportunities, and growing the firm's presence across key market sectors in the region. You will also function as the senior technical authority for the Boston electrical department, setting the standard for engineering excellence, guiding complex project decisions, and providing mentorship and direction to the electrical team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead conceptual design efforts, including system criteria, equipment room sizing, and building stack development
  • Guide project teams through construction documentation and project completion
  • Manage review of shop drawings, RFIs, contractor change orders, and conduct site visits and punch lists
  • Establish and manage project schedules, ensuring efficient resource use and timely task completion
  • Prepare proposals and additional services; coordinate reviews and approvals with Partners
  • Coach and mentor staff, provide performance feedback, and support professional development goals
  • Lead business development efforts for the Boston market, including identifying and pursuing new client opportunities, developing and maintaining key client relationships, and building the firm's pipeline of work across target sectors
  • Drive revenue growth within the Boston office by expanding existing client accounts and winning new commissions, partnering with firm leadership to set and execute market-specific growth strategies
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client engagements in the Boston area to elevate brand visibility and develop new business relationships
  • Serve as the lead technical resource for the Boston electrical department, providing expert guidance on complex engineering challenges, project implementation and management oversight, and ensuring design quality across all project in the office
  • Establish and uphold technical standards for the electrical practice in Boston, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous professional development within the department
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical Engineering
  • 10-14 years of electrical engineering experience
  • Proficient in design calculations and software tools such as Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Deep understanding of trade-specific scopes, codes, and coordination with other disciplines
  • Knowledge of documentation requirements for all project phases (SD, DD, CD, specifications)
  • Demonstrated track record in business development, including client origination, proposal leadership, and revenue generation within the industry
  • Established network of client contacts and industry relationships in the Boston market preferred
  • Recognized technical authority in electrical engineering, with the ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers and serve as the final technical decision maker for the Boston office electrical practice

Estimated compensation range: $160,000 - 184,000 base salary per year
