Family Educator: Fatherhood Focus

A position coordinating Fatherhood/Male Engagement for Head Start Families with children birth-5 yrs. Work directly with families, staff, and community agencies to promote involvement of fathers and father figures in all aspects of their child’s development and education. This position will focus on increasing male participation, supporting positive relationships and parenting practices, and promoting overall family well-being.

Education Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of direct experience facilitating fatherhood/male engagement programs, groups, and/or individual coaching required.
  • Experience in early childhood education, family engagement, or community advocacy preferred.

Qualities:

  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member.
  • Ability to maintain and adhere to boundary guidelines.
  • Ability to work in a diverse workplace.

Skills:

  • Computer Literacy: Word Processing and Database skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective communication skills, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when needed.
  • Ability to network and effectively communicate the benefits of a Head Start experience to prospective families, community leaders, and agencies.
  • Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 119, Section 51A, the Family Educator position is a mandated reporter and held to the statutory reporting requirements.

Additional Requirements

  • Dependable transportation, including necessary automobile insurance, is required.
  • Maintain current valid driver’s license.

Starting Pay: $30.16 per hour

Full Time: 40 hours per week

Full Year: 52 weeks per year
