Scope of Position

The ST Educator position is responsible for providing personalized education by designing, developing, implementing and evaluating classroom and clinical instruction to support the orientation, ongoing educational needs, and experiences in the Operating Room. The ST Educator provides support, education, guidance, direction and assistance to the patient care team in order to attain/maintain quality and safe care to patients in designated clinical areas. The ST Educator functions as an /educational consultant within the Operating Rooms, working with teams to cultivate collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The educator provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of personalized car with a focus on positive patient care outcomes and the patient's involvement in his/her own plan of care. Patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient focused care, through the integrated skills of all care team members.

Position Summary

The ST Educator demonstrates expertise in staff education, surgical technologist practice, patient care delivery, evidence-based practice and collaborates with other disciplines in professional development activities. The ST Educator incorporates knowledge in clinical practice and adult learning principles. The ST Educator is responsible for facilitating the provision of direct and indirect care of patients through educational activities. The ST Educator is capable of analyzing complex patient care situations and co suiting and collaborating with all members of the health care team. The ST Educator serves as a role model and resource for all staff development including supervisors, leads, and students within the unit/department/organization. This position's focus will be on accomplishing strategic and tactical goals/initiatives in the department/organization under the direction of OR management.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Associate's degree in Surgical Technology. Certification Required as CST or TS-C. A minimum of 2 years of surgical technology experience required.
